THE DOC - Las Peregrinas, Director Sue Kenney

Director and Producer Sue Kenney is delighted to premiere her first feature length documentary, Las Peregrinas – Oct. 17– 4:00pm at St. John's Majestic Theatre.

What compels women to voluntarily choose to suffer both the joys and anguish of walking hundreds, sometimes thousands of kilometers on a medieval pilgrimage route in search of something more?

To date, Sue Kenney has walked the Camino 4 times. LAS PEREGRINAS chronicles Sue Kenney as she shepherds a group of first-time women pilgrims (in Spanish / English known as / Las Peregrinas / The Women Who Walk) on their own individual journeys of self-discovery. Even though she had no film experience, as a first time film director, Kenney completely trusted the Camino would provide the people, insight, intrigue, conflict, adventure, mysticism and whatever else she needed to share this story.

Sue Kenney, former world-class athlete and telecommunications executive, has walked the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain alone, a journey that lasted 29 days and 780 km in the midst of winter. When she returned from this life-altering experience in 2004, she shared tales about the pilgrims she met and experiences along the way and found out that people were inspired. Soon after, she wrote her first book; My Camino.

THE BOOK - Written by Sue Kenney

Sue Kenney’s Confessions of a Pilgrim is a real-life fable. Portrayed here in a documentary short film, it is an emotionally gratifying, spiritually rewarding and personally inspiring memoir of Sue’s physically grueling and mentally challenging reprise of her first trek. Sue’s life journey continues, going even further and deeper into the mystery of the Camino, by asking the questions we want asked and facing the fears that confront us all.

Sue Kenney will be visiting and signing books at Chapters in St. Johns as well as signing books after her film screening - stay tuned for details.
