Celluloid Dreams on Moving Stories TV

Sunday, March 11 at 8:30am, 11am, 1pm EST on CLT
Thursday, March 29 at 8pm EST on BookTelevision

“Celluloid Dreams” features Michael Connelly’s ECHO PARK PROLOGUE, a film adaptation of the latest Harry Bosch detective novel along with an intense interview with this Hollywood-based writer (Connelly optioned another of his novels to Clint Eastwood for the feature Bloodwork). The conflict between fiction’s imagined manifestation and the “reality” of putting characters on screen is also revealed in discussions with Paul Quarrington (Whale Music) and the process of casting actors for characters real and imagined.

Echo Park is published by Little, Brown US and distributed in Canada by H.B.Fenn. Michael Connelly interview conducted courtesy IFOA.

Jaded is not jaded at all
EXCERPT FROM JADED EXPRESSION: "Second City alumnus, actor, writer, director and producer Bruce Pirrie has collaborated with BookShorts' mastermind Judith Keenan on multiple BookShorts (ahem short films), the latest, JPod, being inspired by beloved Canadian writer Douglas Coupland's novel of the same name."
Melanie Chung and her team at the online magazine Jaded Expressions write and assemble an electic mix of articles and media; congrats to Melanie on releasing her own short film too.

JPod at SXSW from behind the scenes

The JPod BookShort, based on Douglas Coupland's #1 Bestseller will screen with EVERYTHING’S GONE GREEN, the feature whose screenplay was penned by Douglas Coupland, on Saturday March 10 at 9:30pm at South by Southwest Film Fest.

A little tidbit from the horse's mouth ... Festival Programmer Matt Dentler was very kind in telling yours truly that JPod was in fact selected for the shorts program and it was only when the features programmer and shorts programmers compared notes that they discovered the affinity in their selections. That's a nice vote of artistic confidence for JPod!

External Affairs Canada is supporting the trip to SXSW to be there at the screening -- blog entries live from Austin coming up next week.

If you can't get to Austin (lol) watch it on the BookShorts website.
